When I started on this Chic Antiques journey, I didn’t have any idea what I was in for. I had a real passion for the thrill of the hunt, and the love of making something out of what most people would consider garbage. I decorated my home this way. Then I lost my job as an insurance adjuster; my friends encouraged me to open a store. I had no idea what to expect. Chic Antiques has grown beyond my wildest dreams! It never ceases to amaze me that you actually put my creations in your home, and tell your friends about me. It absolutely blows my mind that we have made the top 5 of Channel 4’s Best of the Best multiple times, and that we were voted the number one Antique store by the Oakland Press readers!
I am truly humbled and very, very grateful.
As my journey goes on, I have looked back at where it has taken me. I have realized that I am no longer the one out there treasure hunting. I miss that old thrill of the hunt. I don’t get to be as truly creative as I would like. I don’t get to interact with my customers nearly as much I used to do.. Many of you have become so much more than customers, most of you I consider a friend, and I miss you. It takes a lot more than I ever realized to run a store front. The more we have grown, the more time consuming all of the little details have become. It’s really like trying to run two households.
So, after A LOT of prayer and thought, I have decided to go back to basics. Many of you have been with me since I started out of my home. My personal life has also taken many directions over the past 5 1/2 years. We are now Oxford residents, and live very close to the shop – almost across the street on 10 acres. I now have a heated garage, and a lot more room. Yes, I am going home again.
I feel I will be able to devote more time to the part of my business that I love the most! I am going to host once a month sales at my house starting the second weekend in May. We will offer the same great services with the same smiling faces. In true Chic Antiques fashion, I plan to make each event a party worth attending, complete with all the “Chic Chicks” (vendors) and plenty of great food.
Starting Saturday, March 1st, everything in the store will be 20% off, and the sale will run through March 31st. Make sure to come often, as I will be bringing in new items daily. My plan is to empty the store out so that I can spend April getting ready for the first event. My goal has always been to have a totally different look each time you come into the store. That will continue to be my plan each time you attend a sale – something totally new when you come back every month.
I will continue to take “custom orders” of course, hopefully, even more. I have been asked by so many of you to come to your home and help out with color choices and furniture placement. This is something that I really enjoy doing, and I will have more time to help you with all of your decorating needs. I will be able to paint many more kitchen cupboards too! I will be offering painting classes and other classes as well, so tell me what you want to learn. I am really looking forward to this new chapter, and anxious to see where else this journey will take us. I think it will continue to be better than ever!
Make sure you “Like” us on Facebook to see all of the new arrivals. Check out our website too, http://www.UniqueChicAntiques.com, for more info. I will actually have more time to keep these better updated too. I will also be sending out a newsletter in April with all the details for the first sale on Friday, May 9th and Satuday, May 10th. We will continue to have our events on the second Friday & Saturday of each month, at least through November.
Thank you so much to each and every one of you, and I look forward to reconnecting with you at our new location!
